The new threshold for surging ticket sales
Let’s face it. Ticket sales are not what they used to be, and the reason for that is …

No longer are we happy to win a couple of millions.
Many lottery players want to win HUNDREDS of millions.
And for plenty of players, even those HUNDREDS are not enough anymore.

Mega Millions’ estimated jackpot jumped from $318 Million to $345 Million. That’s a very small $27M jump compared to previous jackpot runs.
Powerball is doing a bit better.
Powerball jumped from $420 Millions to $455 Million, but still … that’s a relatively small increase of $35 Million and about half of what I observed during similar rollovers not so long ago.
Lottery ticket sales will probably explode when the jackpot reaches $500,000,000 … the NEW threshold for surging ticket sales.
That’s half a Billion, folks. How crazy is that?
